Andria Ramirez -- ECE Head Teacher
Andria grew up locally and was
educated at Fanshawe College,
earning a certificate in
Early Childhood Education.
Currently, she is working on a Preschool Resource Teacher Diploma at Seneca College.
Andria has received hands on training in the various teaching positions that she has held over the past 5 years.  She has been involved in the community and surrounding area teaching at various levels and working with children with various needs. Her own children have taught her more about working with little people than any other experience to date.  She is the mother of two, Izabella 5 and Sebastien 1. She and her family enjoy living in the town of Durham where she has a daily connection to the values that she holds dear.
She feels blessed to work with children every day and equally fortunate to spend time at work with their families.

The Durham Nursery School program is based upon the belief that each child is a unique individual. We intend to promote an approach that recognizes the importance of facilitating growth and development in all areas (emotional, social, cognitive, and physical) and introduce early learning which will assist with readiness for school. The goals of a nursery school are more specific than for childcare, but less strenuous than elementary school. We also adhere to the philosophy that children learn best through play; that cooperation rather than competitiveness should be encouraged. As much as possible children will be encouraged to make their own choices. It is our purpose to provide a comfortable, safe, loving atmosphere which promotes children to find the confidence to discover and use their own talents and abilities. We will provide opportunities for each child to become an independent and caring individual in our community.

Michelle Matheson will return as ECE assistant for the 2016-2017 school year.  Michelle has recently completed her Early Childhood Education certification.  She worked in the classroom during the 2015-2016 school year and enjoyed working, learning and applying her education in a classroom setting.  Michelle is a mother of two and resides in Durham.
